Diana Mckinnon
I am a Textile Artist working in free motion embroidery. I focus on the way that light changes scenes from season to season.
I translate this into textures, colour and details by carefully layering silk, sheer fabrics & silk papers, building them up with free motion embroidery. Some elements of my work are made separately and then stitched in place. This enables me to raise the surface and suggest depth and give the viewer the impression they can walk into the picture.
Edges of silk paper fall free of the stitched pictures to suggest infinity.
I am a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, exhibiting with them in various galleries.
I sell my work through galleries, Open Studio and exhibitions.
